Michael Divine

Bio

Michael Divine is a contemporary painter based in San Francisco, CA. For over two decades, he has been devoted to a daily practice of painting—exploring color, form, and spirit as a way of making sense of what it means to be human. His work is bold, intricate, and luminous, weaving together threads of surrealism, mysticism, and the ineffable beauty of everyday life.

Michael describes himself simply as a lover of beauty. Even when painting the darker corners of experience, his work inevitably reaches toward light, balance, and the transformative nature of love. His paintings are built by hand, stroke by stroke, without shortcuts, because for him the brush remains a direct conduit for imagination and feeling.

Drawing inspiration from sunsets, cathedrals, myths, music, and fleeting moments of wonder, each canvas is both meditative and ecstatic—an expression of this moment’s human experience, and an offering to the creative lineage that stretches from the cave walls of our ancestors to the pioneers of modern art.

His paintings invite us to pause, reflect, and open to the vastness of possibility. They ask us to see more deeply, to feel more fully, and to remember beauty not as an escape, but as an essential force that connects us to one another and to the world.
